Easy Multi-Chip Cookie Recipe {Baking with Toddlers}

This is a recipe I first got from my mother-in-law but changed it up a bit to make it easier and a bit more healthy to make with the boys! I hope you enjoy!

Easy Multi-Chip Cookies:

1 2/3 cups brown sugar, lightly packed

1/2 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup applesauce

2 eggs

2 tsp vanilla

1 1/2 cups white flour, unbleached

1 cup whole wheat flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup white chocolate chips

1/2 cup butterscotch chips

Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix first 5 ingredients in large mixing bowl. Stir well.

Step 2: Add flour, baking soda and salt. Stir until combined.

Step 3: Stir in oatmeal.

Step 4: Add all chips to mixture {and of course, same a few for taste-testing!}.

Step 5: Thoroughly mix all ingredients. Request help from Daddy, if needed, for some extra muscles.

Step 6: Pour cookie mixture into a well-greased cookie sheet, spreading evenly over entire sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

Let cool, cut into squares and you’re done!

You can add just about anything to this recipe to make any kind of cookies you want! Sometimes, I add come cinnamon and raisins, instead of the chips, for oatmeal raisin cookies! You can add nuts, berries..just about anything your little heart desires!

The applesauce is a healthier addition, rather than a whole cup of butter, but you can do only butter or oil, if you’d like. I like the applesauce addition because it makes the cookies a little fluffier and gets a bit of fruit in there!

The boys don’t even care what’s in them.. As long as they get to help me make cookies, and then eat them afterwards, they’re thrilled! This is definitely an easy, one-bowl, child-friendly recipe!

Get baking with your kids and create long-lasting (and delicious) memories!
