We have been in our new home now for about 9 months now and one of the things I was most excited about when we were house-hunting was the thought of being able to paint the rooms for the kids in a fun way, something I had not been able to do before, since we have always rented. And with Natalie being only a couple months old, and my first girl, I was thrilled to be able to paint her room in pink…lots and LOTS of pink! While I did quite a bit of painting in both of the kids’ rooms (the boys share a room) before we moved our belongings into our new house, there were still some things that were left undone for later dates. I am SO excited that we were able to partner with Disney and the new Disney paints line from Glidden to finish up a couple big projects for the kiddos!

Natalie got to come with me, as we hunted for just the right paints for our needs! For Natalie, I knew that I wanted to try the amazing All That Glitters paint, which does just what the name suggests..it’s actually a clear top coat of fun, sparkly glitter (a necessity for every little girl’s room)! For the boys (well, for all three kids, I suppose), Hubby and I decided to do our first big home project, renovating the play room and I thought that the exciting Ready, Set, Glow! paint (yes, it actually glows in the dark!) would be the perfect addition to that adventure!

I found that the Disney Specialty Paints by Glidden were so affordable and would be perfect for someone who wants a special upgrade to their walls for not much money! The All That Glitters was $14.97 and the Ready, Set, Glow! was $19.97 at my local Walmart. They both cover a lot of space so depending on that you are looking to do, of course, I’d imaging you’d only need one of two of the smaller paint cans (make sure you check out the Disney Paint website for ideas before purchasing). I bought one of each, as well as many other painting supplies, such as; drop cloth, different types of paint brushes, painters tape, rollers and also some fun party supplies for our My Magic Room PJ Party!

OK, so for Natalie’s ultra-girly room, I had already painted it pink and brown before we moved in but I left an unfinished stripe through the middle of the wall where I was planning on putting a border but never did.. Three of her walls were striped, pink on the upper half and brown on the bottom half, and one solid pink wall, the accent wall where her crib goes. My plan was to paint the All That Glitters over the entire accent wall and also finally finish the stripe around the rest of the room!

Oh my goodness, I immediately fell in love with the All That Glitters paint! I really do think that every little girly-girl needs this paint in their room! Did you know that you can even paint the Disney Specialty Paints on pieces of furniture, inside a closet or across the whole room?! I just love how versatile they are! I only used about a third of the can to coat the entire wall. I’m pretty sure that I could have covered the whole room with just one can.

Next, I taped off a little above and below and stripe that was there and painted a very light pink over it. Once it dried completely, I also added some more All That Glitters over the stripe! It really makes it pop and stand out against the rest of the wall! I absolutely LOVE it! I tell people that her room now reminds me of Neapolitan ice cream; strawberry, vanilla and chocolate. YUM!

To finish off her already gorgeous room, I added this stunning tree decal behind her changing table. I originally tried to add it on the accent wall, behind her crib, but soon discovered that the decal did not stick to the All That Glitters top coat. Thankfully, this wasn’t a problem for me, as I had another space to put it and I really love how the tree and flowers just flow over her different-shaped walls. Don’t you just love it?! Now, her room is done and I know that she will love it for years and years! Thanks Disney Paint and Glidden!

Now that was actually my easy project! The playroom was a whole other adventure that started with disgusting blue carpet and boring, grayish-blue walls that were old and chipped and desperately needing a do-over… Don’t believe me?? Here’s a picture for proof..

Yuck. Boring. Dull. Not very fun for a kids’ playroom, don’t you think?! Yea, me too. That’s why Hubs and I decided to completely renovate it from the floor up (literally)!

First, we painted over the yucky grey with some paint I already had on hand, which was a bright, cheery, very summery green (technical name: Citron). Then, Hubs tore out the carpet and he and my dad put in brand new wood flooring that matches the rest of the house.

A HUGE improvement already but it doesn’t stop there…! Next, I got out the Ready, Set, Glow! glow-in-the-dark paint and wanted to add some spooky eyeballs and sayings to our already monster-inspired playroom. I knew that the boys would get a kick out of seeing eyeballs glowing at them when the lights were off!

Here are a couple of the new glow-in-the-dark paintings! For some reason, my camera was not cooperating with me enough to get a picture of them glowing but here are a couple pictures of the designs with my camera flash. When looking straight on, you can’t see them at all! But as soon as the lights go off, get ready to be SPOOKED (not really…we only have friendly monsters that live in our playroom)!

So here it is: the kids’ new monster playroom! Isn’t it just wonderful?? The boys absolutely LOVE their new playroom and I can’t blame them. I love it, too!

To celebrate our two new awesome kids’ rooms, we had some friends over to share the good news about our projects and Disney Paint! It was so much fun to have everyone see our new creations and, of course, to play, chat and eat some yummy food! I also had our My Magic Room Party in the evening so all the kids came in their jammies, which is always fun, as well! The older kids played outside for the most part, since the weather was gorgeous, but the boys did make sure to show off their new playroom to their friends before they left.. Even Natalie had a friend her age to play with!

It has been such a fun experience, getting to work with Disney Paints during these two home-owner adventures! I kept the leftover paint and know that someday soon, I will find an excuse to pull them out again. I could not believe how fun, affordable and versatile all of the Disney Specialty Paints actually were! I am one of those weird people who loves to paint but I know it is (usually) always such a big ordeal and there is a lot of time and money involved. Glidden has paired perfectly with Disney to create paints for everyone that are easy on the wallet! They have even more Specialty Paints as well, ready for your own perfect project! I will for sure be purchasing more Disney Paint from Glidden for my next project and highly suggest that you do, as well!

As you well know, I am very passionate about making your own baby food at home with quality, organic products! I have been making homemade baby food for all three of my kids and have always just made do without a ‘fancy’ machine but let me tell you something… IT IS AMAZING!! If that’s not enough to convince you that you need one of these awesome machines, let me tell you how fast and easy it is to use.

Right out of the box, I took all of the pieces apart and hand washed them to get them ready to be used.

Next, I got my veggies ready to be steamed. After I washed them and cut them into smaller pieces {I did carrots and asparagus}, I add as many as I can fit in the steam basket and place into the bowl.

The steam basket comes with two parts. You can put the smaller one inside if you have to puree things that you do not want to mix. I never use this, as I just end up pureeing everything together anyway..

Once you have filled up the steam basket, place lid on and lock bowl into base. I love that it is so simple to close! In the picture below, you can easily tell when it is locked into place and ready to go!

Then, fill up with as much water is as needed. Note: For softer fruits and veggies that need just a little steaming, only add a little water and for harder produce, fill more. If you are following a recipe from the included recipe book, it will tell you how high to fill the water but I don’t do that so I end up just guessing.. Everything that I have steamed has come out perfectly so far so I must be doing it right!

After you have filled the water compartment, replace the lid and turn it to the LOCK position. Then, just turn it on and wait for it to beep when it is done! Easy peasy!

Once the NUK Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker is done cooking, it will beep and you should wait probably 5 minutes before taking the lid off to prevent steam from going all over the place. When it’s cooled down a bit, use the steam stick to get the basket out and then pour the food into the bowl for pureeing. Use as much, or as little, of the juice as you like. (You can see in the below picture how much juice it saved from my carrots and asparagus! YAY!)

The last step is to puree! Hold the button to the smooth or chunky puree settings for a few seconds, open and stir, and then puree again. Repeat this cycle until the entire batch is just how you want it. I usually just have to open and stir twice but you may want to do this more if you are looking for silky-smooth purees, for smaller kiddos.

Once you’re done pureeing, you can serve, refrigerate (for up to 3 days) or freeze (for up to 3 months)! I usually save 1 meal in the fridge and then transfer the rest to ice cube trays (my ideal freezing method for baby food). Once frozen solid, I move the food cubes to a gallon-sized freezer baggie for storage.

This puree is a bit sore on the eyes, yes.. But you know what?! With the sweet carrots in there, Natalie gobbled it right up! I, of course, used organic carrots and asparagus. I love SO much that I know exactly what goes into her precious little belly.

There may seem to be a lot of steps but once you make one or two batches of baby food, the process gets faster and faster. This is, by far, the fastest and easiest food-making process I have discovered so far and will continue to recommend the NUK Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker to all of my mama friends!

We’ve been going to the park almost every single day! The boys love running around and enjoying the sunshine and while I love those things as well, I also love the nice, looooooong naps they take afterwards! We also set up our new pool in the backyard for the boys, since the weather got into the 80′s this past week! They are loving being able to go swimming whenever they want! And Natalie has been outside a bunch as well, of course, and is getting used to the grass finally… She still won’t crawl in it (I suppose she doesn’t like the feel of it on her hands) but doesn’t mind sitting and watching her brothers play.

Speaking of little miss Natalie, she sure is growing up! She is 10 months now (CRAZY!) and crawling all over. Her new favorite activity is to chase the poor cat all over the house. Unfortunately, the kitty does not like her nearly as much as she likes it.. :p Also, she decided that she does not like to bathe in the bath tub anymore, she prefers the sink. I like that it’s a smaller space to keep her contained but she does make quite the mess with her splashes..

Newest happenings with Cohen have been last week when he graduated from his AWANA Cubbies class! That means that next year, he will be in Sparks for AWANA and Kindergarten for school, which is just crazy-talk.. My little man will be turning 5 in August and with his new big-boy haircut that I gave him a few days ago, he looks so old! *tear*

We sure have been running all over, from play date to play date, here and there, to the beach, parks all over town.. I feel exhausted but man, the weather we have been having is just amazing and I feel like we need to enjoy every second of the warm sunshine! Just this morning, I took the kiddos to the park/beach and Natalie sat in the sand for the first time.. I was surprised that she didn’t try to eat it but she did, however, enjoy throwing it all over herself and making a big mess.

We haven’t always been inside, though. Two weekends ago, Hubby and I (with help from my dad) got to work on some home improvement projects that we were wanting to get done. The playroom got a HUGE transformation and Natalie’s room got a nice little upgrade. I will be sharing the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pics soon in an upcoming post for the new Disney Glidden paint! Can’t wait for that one! So now we have the playroom looking completely awesome but it’s so nice out that the boys have barely played in it! Ha! Of course… Well, soon the heat will get to be too much and we’ll have to stay indoors in the afternoons again. When that time comes, they will enjoy it a lot!

So all in all, I wanted to tell you THANK YOU for sticking around and hanging in there during my absence! Spring is in the air and here in my home, when we’re not outside enjoying the sunshine, we have been watching the amazing new film, ‘Wings of Life‘ by Disneynature! Even though my boys are 3 and 4, they already love documentaries and films that tell about the beauty of nature and how things work! I am just as intrigued by ‘Wings of Life‘ as they are, with the close-up footage of beautiful flowers, bugs, birds and more. The real-life images are captivating and truly incredible to watch and very educational for children, as well as adults!

My favorite place to search for new diapers to buy is Etsy. On Etsy, you can find an incredible assortment of different handmade products for everyone and every possible need! My favorite diapers to buy for my kids have always been from WAHM’s (work-at-home-moms) because I enjoy supporting a woman out there, juggle her passion for creating diapers, while juggling home life with kids! Julianne, the mother behind Little Beasties Diapers, was one of the shops I came across and I was thrilled that she wanted one of her cute diapers to be featured on my blog!

I chose the adorable Insect Garden diaper for Natalie because it was very girly but I knew that the boys would get a kick out of all the bugs on it as well!

My favorite features of the Little Beasties pocket diaper are the double gussets (which keep even the ickiest of meeses contained!), the adjustable, snap-able elastic (to ensure you get just the right fit, in a snap) and I also like the snap-down, extra-absorbent insert (which holds a TON)!

The fit was great but I think that maybe the sides need to be a bit longer because Natalie already filled out the waist pretty well. I’m not sure how much longer she’ll be able to fit into the waist.. The legs were a bit loose (like in the above left picture) but I just tightened up the snapping elastic a couple snaps and then it fit perfectly!

What I would have liked to see on this diaper were some washing tabs for the velcro to stick onto during laundry day! I had to stick the velcro onto the front velcro, which essentially closed the diaper back up and I don’t think it washes as well that way. That is my only ‘complaint’ about our new Little Beasties pocket cloth diaper! I love the print and all of the other features and think these diapers would be an excellent addition to any diaper stash!

This cute film, ‘A Monster in Paris‘, has been out on 3D Blu-Ray and DVD since 4/16 and is definitely a must-watch for older kids and adults! I loved that the ‘monster’ in the story is actually very sweet (a giant, musically-inclined flea) but people are scared of him just because he is different. This movie takes place in Paris, back in the 1910′s, and is musical, funny and the characters are incredibly likable, even the monster himself!

SYNOPSIS

A wacky inventor, his camera-crazy best friend and a madcap monkey make a massive mistake when let loose in a mad scientist’s laboratory. With lotions and potions spilling everywhere, the troublesome trio accidentally creates Franc, the product of a reaction between a common flea and one of the scientist’s mystery concoctions. What they fail to realize, however, is that this ‘monster’ is actually a soft-centered soul with an astounding talent for music.

With the help of an enchanting nightclub singer Lucille, Franc becomes the talk of the town, just as stories of Paris’s newest monster attract the attention of the egotistical police commissioner, hell bent on securing a big prize to help his battle to become mayor. The unwitting scientists and the singer must team up to protect Franc, a monster with more than a musical career to protect!

I said that this movie is great for older kids and adults because there is a bit of language (like ‘oh my god’, which I don’t let my kids say) and there is quite a bit of violence, including the ‘bad guy’ shooting at the monster with intent to kill and even strangling the female lead character. For my boys, almost 5 and 3.5 years old, this is a bit more than I want them to be introduced to at this point. Some may not care, each parent needs to decide for themselves, of course, what they will allow their kids to watch, but for me, I think I will wait a few years before letting them watch this one..

That said, I really did think it was very cute, funny and even I got into the characters and their amazing adventure! Watching ‘A Monster in Paris‘ will remind you to not judge a book by its cover, to look inside someone to see who they really are first!

I am a couple days late on this review but with Saturday being the Great Cloth Diaper Change that I organized and yesterday having church and a day full of errands, I just ran out of time! SO, I am extending this event a couple more days (yay!)…which means that I have more reviews and giveaways for you all, three more to be exact!

I am in love. No, really. I am in love with Natalie’s new AIO (all-in-one) cloth diaper from Daddy’s Diapers! I hope that the pictures that I took will do this diaper all of the justice it deserves! Ha

I chose the bright and beautiful ‘The Tea Party‘ print and absolutely love it! This diaper is so me. I love pink, vivid colors and coordinating prints, so, of course, I fell in love with this one as soon as I saw it.. This is the perfect diaper for the girly-girl in your life!

My diaper from Daddy’s Diapers arrived in a cute little package, all sewn in and I appreciated the unique and personal feel to it!

You can purchase this print (and all of the other diapers) as a pocket diaper or an AIO. The AIO does have a pocket in the back but all of the absorbent, microfiber layers are sewn in to prevent moving around and bunching. I do like that it has a pocket so you could add another insert or booster, if needed, maybe as a nighttime diaper or for a heavy wetter, maybe?

The ruffles are TO. DIE. FOR. For reals. You just cannot go wrong with all of the gorgeous ruffles! They do, however, wrinkle a bit in the dryer but if you just make sure to take it out right when it’s done and flatten out the ruffles, they’ll be ok. If pink is not really your scene, make sure to check out all of the other Ruffle Butts diapers they carry. My other favorite is called ‘The Guinevere‘.

The fit on Natalie’s waist and legs was perfect. She is a pretty chubby baby, about 19 pounds at 9.5 months, but I’m pretty certain that this would even fit great on a skinny baby as well! The rise and waist snaps are great for getting just the right fit. There are no overlapping snaps, however, so I am not sure how this would fit on a newborn. Just by looking at the diaper, I am guessing that you won’t be able to get a good fit until 10 pounds or so, which is usual for one-size diapers..

I was SO glad that we got this adorable ruffle cloth diaper from Daddy’s Diapers right before the Great Cloth Diaper Change because when it arrived, I knew that was going to be the one I wanted to change Natalie into for the event! The event was this past Saturday, April 20th, and little miss Natalie (and her cutie little booty) stole the show! I’d guess that over half of the moms that came, stopped me to ask me where I got her diaper because it was so cute! I told you that everyone loves a ruffle butt!
